Annelise Hanshaw is intent on amplifying people’s love and knowledge of their hometowns. She finds local gems and tells their stories alongside multimedia elements. Skilled in writing, photography and graphic design, she is confident to visually present any piece. She is also trained in video, audio and motion graphics to emphasize pieces of longform stories.
Annelise is studying magazine journalism at Ball State University, where she leads the lifestyle section of Ball Bearings Magazine. She has been active in student media since her first day of high school and seeks leadership opportunities. Previously, she has served as art director of Ball Bearings Magazine.
In the Polar Vortex of 2019, Annelise drove to Minneapolis to begin an internship with Greenspring Media. She wrote many pieces, impressing her editors with her speed. By the end of her internship, she wrote like a Twin Cities local, pitching pieces about new local artists to her editors.
While she finishes up her degree, she freelances for a variety of publications and manages a small rental property.
Annelise has been published in the following publications: Ball Bearings Magazine, Ball State Daily News, Broad Ripple Magazine, Carmel Magazine, Drinks Magazine, Fishers Magazine, Mashable, Midwest Home Magazine, Minnesota Baby and Beyond, Minnesota Monthly, Twin Cities Living, Where: Twin Cities.
